We Know What You're Going Through

If you're here, you probably feel:

  • Embarrassed to walk your dog in public

  • Tired of getting yanked, barked at, and ignored

  • Judged by strangers, family and friends…or even yourself

  • Probably frustrated by failed training programs

You're not a bad dog owner. You've just been given the wrong tools and advice.

That ends today.

Why Your Dog’s Behavior Isn’t Your Fault

Most dog owners don't realize that certain behaviors are reinforced unintentionally every single day.

Your dog isn’t broken. You’re just stuck in a cycle that only a professional can reset.

That’s why our Training Program works. We handle everything for you.

What Other Utah Dog Owners Are Saying

“As a pet professional myself, my standards and expectations were very high for a trainer. Alex, Steven and his team were very professional and met our families specific needs with the 2wk board/train. Our pup was super happy and well cared for. The daily video updates were so exciting to see his progress. Gnarly came home with a solid training foundation that has improved our relationship with him. We are looking forward to working with canine mind for years to come.”

- Jess Bost (Groomin On The Go)

You simply won’t find a better place to take your dog for training or boarding anywhere else in Salt Lake City (possibly even the country). They understand exactly what dogs need to be successful in their training and what us dog owners need to do to help our pets. We now can enjoy off leash hikes, eating without begging, and a stronger bond with our dog. Do yourself a favor and bring your canine companion here.

- Charlie Robertson

“Alex K. really knows his dog training. What I like the most is he can explain the ‘why’ (the dog psychology) of each of his training techniques and how it’ll help you and your dog be a successful duo moving forward. We do a lot of traveling, and wanted to be able to trust our dog to listen and obey consistently, which The Canine Mind has helped us accomplish. I would highly recommend The Canine Mind. We did puppy classes with them, continue to do companion classes with them, and have done some private board & train, all of which has been a stellar experience. I wouldn’t (and won’t) go anywhere else.”

-Brenna Thomas

“The Canine Mind helped out our family a lot. I have a male German Shepherd and my boyfriend has a female Pitbull mix. We were planning on moving in together because we’re expecting. When we first introduced our dogs it didn’t go very well. His Pitbull attacked my Shepherd the first chance she got. So we looked into a training facility and I found the Canine Mind. We met with Alex, he really understood our situation and boosted our confidence in how to handle our dogs. We went through a few months of training before we were able to have one of our dogs off leash with the other. I’m glad to say they are now living together and are the best of friends, cuddling and playing any chance they get.”

-Ashley Sanchez

Meet the Team

Alex Krikorian

Owner and Lead Trainer Alex Krikorian is a Master Dog Trainer with over 15 years of hands on training experience. Alex’s dog journey began Christmas 2006 when he received his first dog, a cute but fearfully-aggressive Boxer named Rocky. Rocky was a loving companion inside the home, but was anxious and aggressive when outside on walks. It took Alex observing and bonding with Rocky to build a strong and trusting connection, allowing him to find the root of his aggressive behavior and ultimately soothe it. His success rehabilitating Rocky’s behavior was the launchpad that inspired a career in Dog Behavior Modification and Training.

Alex spent the following years studying with and learning from many trainers and behaviorists, while also climbing the ranks at PetSmart, INC. After three years as their Regional Training Manager and with no further to climb, Alex founded The Canine Mind, with the purpose of educating pet parents on the inner-workings of their dog’s mind. He wanted to help owner’s foster a closer bond with their dogs, accomplish fear free obedience, and ensure a lifetime of wagging tails. After finding great success in the Bay Area, Alex relocated The Canine Mind to his wife Melody’s hometown of Salt Lake City, Utah.

Steven Myers

Born and raised in Utah, I’ve been a lifelong dog lover with a passion for building meaningful connections between pets and their families. With three years of dog training experience, I bring a deep understanding of canine behavior and a commitment to helping every dog become the ideal companion. Growing up, I played sports throughout my childhood, which taught me discipline, teamwork, and patience—qualities I now bring into my work with dogs and their owners.

I’m most passionate about helping people better understand their pets, creating harmony in their homes, and tailoring training to meet the unique needs of every family. Whether it’s addressing specific challenges or refining obedience skills, I love seeing the transformation as dogs become confident, well-behaved companions. My approach is not just about training dogs but fostering stronger bonds between humans and their furry friends in a fun, approachable way.

Persephone Carden

Hi! I'm Persephone Carden. I've been living in Utah for nine years and am a passionate dog trainer with more than three years of experience in the training field! My journey began with raising Guide Dogs for the Blind, and I currently have three active guide dogs assisting individuals across the US and Canada. This work has not only deepened my love for dogs but also reinforced my commitment to improving their lives and the lives of their handlers.

In addition to my training career, I am pursuing a degree in Psychology at Salt Lake Community College. My studies allow me to explore the intricacies of behavior and learning, which I apply to my work with dogs and owners! Balancing my education and training responsibilities has been challenging, but extremely rewarding, as I strive to enhance my skills in both fields.
